About the artist

Julia Anne Taylor

Julia is a London-based painter whose work lives somewhere between memory and landscape: woodland paths dissolving into mist, meadows heavy with wildflowers and berries, and loose, luminous bouquets gathered in old vases.

She works in oils and, more recently, mixed media, building each canvas in layers. Soft, blended grounds come first, full of weather and light; then she returns with brush, palette knife and her trusty mahl stick to pick out blossom, bramble, cow parsley and the last glow of evening.

Having spent much of her life in America before settling in London, Julia draws on both: the fireflies of summer evenings across the Atlantic, and the hedgerows, frosty mornings and riverside walks of England. Her newest paintings are bolder, with teal and gold grounds, drips of colour and stencilled texture, but they keep the same quiet invitation to step inside and breathe.

“Windows open, music on, paint everywhere… my happy place.”
